In order to strengthen the cultivation of high-level talents and better support the growth and development of young teachers, on the afternoon of 11 September, the School of Pharmacy held a meeting on sharing and exchanging the successful experience of high-level talents in the Room 122 of the new experimental building, which was presided over by Wu Zhaoqiu, vice dean of our school. More than one hundred representatives of our school’s teachers and students attended.
Prof. Sun Mingjie was invited to share her experience with the topic of Practice and Experience of Talent Growth through Collaboration between Teaching and Research. She explained from three aspects, namely, the building up of a guidance system of Three Levels and One Collaboration, the cultivating habit of Three Initiatives in scientific research, and the skills in looking for a research direction. Prof. Sun had highlighted the spirit of teamwork, pointing out that supporting development, achieving consistent goals, sharing common interests, and making appropriate choices are four key elements in team building.
Prof. Jiang Zhengyu delivered a speech under the title of Going in the Same Direction, Moving Forward Together. His gave an example of how to accurately locate the direction of the discipline from the perspective of scientific research, and instructed the young teachers how to get the First bucket of gold as early as possible in a humorous way. He hoped that everyone would actively participate in academic activities, base on their own research interests. He also encouraged the young talents to apply for kinds of fund projects unremittingly to find the experience in the failures. and seek for the development from failures, so as to better complete the transformation of the identity of the scientific researchers. The speaker was Prof. Liu Dongfei. Based on his own scientific research experience, Prof Liu took the characteristics of pharmacy as an entry point to share with the audience how to condense the scientific challenges, how to efficiently carry out the development, and shorten the preparation period. The next step was to conduct the engineering application, and closely connect the characteristics of the discipline with the production process. He said scientific research need unremitting exploration, and perseverance and persistence are the foundation in research with the goal of sharpening a sword in ten years. Associate Professor Wang Lei reviewed the team's research history from the application and translation of innovative drugs, structure optimization of targeted small molecules, patent granting of drug candidates, publication of cover articles, etc. He put forward the suggestions like clear direction, understanding the rules, knowing yourself and your peers, self-reflection to the young faculty members. In Q&A part, a lot of questions flied to the four professors and they gave careful guidance patiently. The air then was pretty warm and active.
To wrap up, the vice dean Wu made a closing speech. He pointed out that high-level talents are the core force for the development of our school. And high-level talents should set appropriate goals and continue to grow despite of some challenge. Additionally, he also put forward suggestions to young teachers, who should not only concentrate on teaching and academic, but also position themselves at a high point, and actively promote cross-collaboration within the school and at home and abroad, so as to lead to the better development of various disciplinary fields.
Our school has carried out 30 academic seminars in colorful ways this year. This exchange meeting, as one of the series of activities of the school’s academic salon for young teachers, fosters academic communication and exchange, creating a strong academic atmosphere. We will continue to create a good air for the talents development in the near future. More outstanding talents are expected to join in the development of our school, and promote the high-quality development of scientific research as well.
